Privacy Policy
This describes what FreeGiftGrabber.com collects, why, who it's shared with, and the rights you have over it. It's written to match what the site actually does — if we change what we collect or how we use it, this page changes and the version date above updates.
1. Information we collect
When you register for an account, we collect: first name, last name, email address, a password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text), mailing address, and phone number if you choose to provide it.
We collect this and nothing else at registration. We do not ask for and this form will never include: date of birth, Social Security number, credit score, income, debt amounts, homeowner status, insurance status, or driving history. If you ever see a version of this site asking for those things, it is not this policy's site.
When you claim a sample, we record which sample and when.
2. How we use it
- Fulfilling your sample requests — your name and address are what makes it possible to physically mail you something.
- Account access — your email and password let you log back in and see what you've claimed.
- Communicating with you — order/shipping confirmations, and account-related messages. We don't send marketing email unless you separately opt in somewhere that says so.
- Fraud and abuse prevention — e.g., rate-limiting registrations and enforcing one claim per sample per person.
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with insurance companies, lenders, debt-relief companies, or data brokers.
We share the minimum needed with:
| Who | What they get | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The specific brand for a sample you claim | Name and mailing address (phone, only if the brand needs it to confirm delivery) | So they can ship you that sample |
| Our hosting/infrastructure provider | Whatever's needed to run the site (the database lives on our server) | Keeps the site running — they don't use your data for their own purposes |
| Law enforcement or legal process | Only what's legally compelled | Compliance with a valid subpoena, court order, or similar |
California residents: see the California Privacy Rights page for how this maps to CCPA/CPRA's "sale" and "share" definitions.
4. Cookies
Covered in full on the Cookies & Other Technology page. In short: one essential, first-party session cookie, and one local-storage flag that remembers you've seen the cookie notice. Neither is used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account and claim history for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account (see below), your account record, address, and claim history are permanently deleted from our database — this isn't a soft delete or a "marked inactive" state.
6. Your rights and choices
Any logged-in user can, from the "My data" link in the site header:
- See and download everything we have on your account, as a JSON file, on demand.
- Delete your account, which immediately and permanently removes your account, address, and claim history.
These aren't just described here — they're built into the account menu right now. California residents have some additional, specifically-named rights; see California Privacy Rights.
7. Children's privacy
This site is not directed to children and isn't intended for use by anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Security
Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Sessions use HTTP-only cookies. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we don't collect more than we need specifically so there's less at risk if something goes wrong.
9. Changes to this policy
If we materially change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the version date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy; for significant changes, we may also ask you to re-confirm.
